Times of SEO managed full-funnel SEO for specsmart.ng. They improved the site’s technical foundation, indexation, and structured data. This helped the clinic be found easily by patients in Nigeria and around the world. This case study documents the strategy applied and the resulting search performance, measured directly through Google Search Console.
Client Overview
SpecsMart Eye Clinic is a top provider of medical diagnostics and eye care in Lagos, Nigeria. They have locations in Ikeja and Ikoyi. The clinic offers eye tests, HMO-supported consultations, prescription lenses, and designer eyewear. They combine world-class diagnostics with excellent patient care. SpecsMart sought an SEO partner to enhance organic visibility. They wanted to improve site health and attract qualified traffic in Nigeria and beyond.
The Challenge
- A large site footprint with over 22,000 known URLs, where the majority (20.4K pages) were not indexed, limiting how much of the clinic’s content could surface in search.
- A single large sitemap index needed consistent monitoring to ensure Google could discover and re-crawl new and updated pages efficiently.
- No validated structured data for breadcrumbs or review snippets, reducing the clinic’s eligibility for enhanced search results that build patient trust.
- Crawl efficiency needed close monitoring given the site’s scale — over 81K crawl requests in the reporting window — to ensure Googlebot’s budget was spent on high-value medical and service pages.
- Building strong topical authority and visibility for Nigeria-specific eye care, HMO, and eyewear search intent.
Our SEO Strategy
We focused on technical SEO for SpecsMart. We emphasized structured data and indexation health. This is crucial for a healthcare brand. Trust signals impact click-through rates and patient confidence.
- Technical SEO audit and ongoing monitoring of crawl stats, response codes, and file-type crawl distribution for a large site.
- Indexation management — identifying the causes behind non-indexed URLs and prioritizing indexing for high-value clinic, service, and eyewear pages.
- Implement and validate structured data for Breadcrumbs and Review snippets. This will boost search result credibility and help qualify for rich results.
- Sitemap health monitoring to ensure the site’s 1,620+ discovered pages remain fully crawlable and up to date.
- Optimize on-page content to match Nigerian search intent for eye tests, HMO coverage, lenses, and designer eyewear.

Figure 2 — Country-Level Performance Table (Clicks, Impressions, CTR, Position)
Nigeria leads all markets with 16,691 clicks and 703,509 impressions at a 2.4% CTR and 5.2 average position — a strong result for a competitive medical and eyewear category. The United Kingdom and United States follow with meaningful impression volume (35,964 and 123,220 respectively), while Bangladesh shows a notably high 3.6% CTR, indicating strong relevance for specific ranked queries in that market.

Figure 3 — Average CTR and Position Trend by Country
The average CTR and position trend lines show steady improvement from late 2025 onward, with average CTR climbing from roughly 1–2% toward a stabilized 4% range for top-performing segments, alongside a consistently strong average position — both signs of increasingly relevant search matching between SpecsMart’s pages and patient queries.
Indexation Health

Figure 4 — Page Indexing Report
Google Search Console currently shows 2.1K pages indexed against 20.4K not indexed, spread across 12 distinct reasons. Given the scale of specsmart.ng’s URL footprint — including filtered eyewear collection pages, parameterized URLs, and legacy paths — this is a common pattern for large e-commerce and medical directory sites. Our ongoing work focuses on prioritizing indexing for the clinic’s core service, location, and eyewear pages while consolidating or de-indexing low-value duplicate URLs.
Crawl Budget and Crawl Efficiency

Figure 5 — Googlebot Crawl Stats
Crawl stats reveal that Googlebot is busy on the site. It made 81.9K requests, downloaded 4.09B bytes, and had an average response time of 223ms during the reporting period. Of the crawl requests, 77% returned a 200 (OK) response, with 12% resulting in 301 redirects and 8% in 404s — areas we continue to address through redirect cleanup and removing broken internal links.
By file type, HTML made up 55% of crawl requests, a healthy majority for a content- and service-page-heavy medical site. By purpose, 82% of crawl requests were refresh crawls versus 18% discovery crawls — showing Google is actively re-checking existing content for updates. Sixty percent of crawl activity came from the smartphone crawler. This shows the site is mainly assessed through Google’s mobile-first indexing. It matches how most Nigerian patients search and browse on mobile devices.
XML Sitemap Health

Figure 6 — Submitted Sitemap Index
SpecsMart submits a single sitemap index (/sitemap.xml) which is currently returning a Success status in Google Search Console, with 1,620 discovered pages and no discovered videos. This consolidated sitemap structure gives Google a clear, centralized map of the site, supporting efficient discovery of new clinic pages, service updates, and eyewear listings as they’re published.
Structured Data and Schema Markup Validation

Figure 7 — Breadcrumbs Structured Data
All 4 breadcrumb structured data items on the site are marked valid, with zero invalid items flagged in the last 90 days. Clean breadcrumb schema helps Google display clear navigational paths in search snippets — particularly valuable for a multi-location, multi-service medical site like SpecsMart, where patients need to quickly understand which clinic, service, or product a result relates to.

Figure 8 — Review Snippets Structured Data
Review snippet markup is also fully validated, with 2 valid items and zero errors. For healthcare providers, validated review schemas are crucial. They let trust signals like star ratings show up in search results. This boosts SpecsMart’s strong reputation, as seen in its 4.9 and 5.0 Google scores for Ikoyi and Ikeja.
